The dinner and dance music, we were also providing music and microphones for the Ceremony. It’s always a good idea to have music, and if you’re not having the wedding in a church, the DJ is the most obvious choice to provide the music. The music was more than just your average classical or instrumental music or Jason Mraz/Jack Johnson/Colbie Caillat acoustic indie pop feel, or Jazz/Sinatra standards.
You can decide to choose music from the year you first met, or the year you were engaged, or select years that have meaning in your family, such as your parents or grandparents anniversary. For any Wedding DJ, this would be a fun project, We loved going through all the music from these specific years and picking out some of those gems that were forgotten that really captured what the Bride and Groom were looking for. Music connects us in a way that few things can, and music sets the mood and makes us feel a certain way.

Our DJ/MC made a quick announcement before the ceremony began, to welcome everybody and let them know about the music selections and the idea that the Bride and Groom came up with. The guests seemed to pay more attention to the music after that and they felt like they were much more a part of the experience.
A few things to consider: If you choose to have songs from your birth year played during your Ceremony Prelude, you may not know all of the best choices, especially since you were only a few days old when some of them came out. You can even take it one step further and try to incorporate more of the hits from those years in your cocktails, dinner, and dance music set lists! It’s the younger crowd that packs the dance floor and partied hard until the tail end of the night, and it’s nice to have some great music with a special touch for the older crowd.
Cheers!
